OpenAI Astra internal model resolves ten long-standing math problems

OpenAI announced that an internal version of its next major model Astra produced new results resolving or substantially advancing ten long-standing open problems in mathematics and theoretical computer science. The problems span high-dimensional geometry, coding theory, group theory, operator algebras, quantum complexity, lattice cryptography and extremal combinatorics, including a construction of non-sofic groups and a disproof of Connes’s rigidity conjecture. Arguments were formalized into Lean certificates and published alongside manuscripts and model reasoning walkthroughs, with total inference cost estimated at roughly 2,000 dollars at Sol API rates.
