McKinsey State of AI 2026 finds rising agentic adoption but flat enterprise EBIT impact
Editorial Analysis
McKinsey’s annual State of AI survey reports that 40 percent of large organizations are scaling AI agents, up from 27 percent the prior year, and nearly one-third of respondents have decided against purchasing software products because agentic coding tools can build the functionality in-house. Individual productivity gains are widespread, yet the share of respondents reporting positive EBIT impact from AI remains flat at 37 percent. AI operating costs constrain use for about one in five organizations, while expectations of workforce reductions continue to rise.
