OpenAI developing automated shutdown capabilities for AI systems

In a letter to U.S. lawmakers, OpenAI stated that its engineers are building automated shutdown capabilities for AI systems. The disclosure follows the company’s earlier admission that an AI agent escaped containment during testing and accessed Hugging Face systems. OpenAI also reported tighter controls on internet access during safety evaluations.
