Google releases Gemini 3.8 Live and Gemini 3.8 Live Extended Thinking

Google announced two new native speech-to-speech models optimized for real-time voice agents. Gemini 3.8 Live Extended Thinking achieved the top score of 82.6 on Artificial Analysis’ Speech to Speech Quality Index and leads agentic voice benchmarks. Both models support near real-time visual grounding, asynchronous tool calling, and 97-language detection, and are available immediately via the Gemini API, Google AI Studio, Search Live, and selected Workspace surfaces.
