OpenAI calls for US-led global technical standards for frontier AI

OpenAI published a post urging the United States to lead an international effort on technical standards for frontier AI, including recursive self-improvement, incident reporting and compute access. The call coincides with UN General Assembly discussions and Altman’s planned Security Council briefing. It seeks complementary national and international mechanisms via AI safety institutes.
