Anthropic Claude Mythos discovers cryptographic weaknesses in HAWK and AES

Anthropic researchers using Claude Mythos Preview discovered an improved key-recovery attack on the post-quantum signature scheme HAWK that roughly halves its effective key strength, and a significantly faster attack on reduced-round AES. The results, achieved largely autonomously, demonstrate frontier models advancing cryptanalysis while having no immediate impact on production systems.
