Anthropic urges California courts power to block high-risk AI models

Anthropic submitted a letter to California Governor Gavin Newsom recommending that government officials be able to seek court orders to block release of AI models posing serious public risk. The company also cautioned against relying solely on kill-switch requirements. The recommendations form part of input to a state panel developing AI safety proposals and reflect ongoing industry engagement with regulation.
