OpenAI appoints Paul Christiano to Foundation Board and Safety Committee

OpenAI appointed alignment researcher Paul Christiano to the OpenAI Foundation Board and its Safety and Security Committee. He will also serve as a non-voting observer on the OpenAI Group PBC board. Christiano, founder of the Alignment Research Center and a senior tech advisor at the U.S. Center for AI Standards and Innovation, previously led alignment work at OpenAI. The appointment strengthens formal safety governance at a period of heightened scrutiny of frontier model risks.
