OpenAI launches Astra for Law legal AI platform

OpenAI released a specialized version of GPT-6 Astra combined with an index of US case law, statutes and regulations for legal research, drafting and custom applications. The product targets law firms and legal software providers with initial Trusted Access for selected firms and integrations with providers such as Thomson Reuters and Clio. This expands frontier model deployment into a high-value professional services vertical already contested by Google and Anthropic.
