OpenAI publishes reports on enterprise shift from AI assistance to execution

OpenAI released two complementary studies examining enterprise AI adoption. Frontier firms (top 10% by usage) now generate 8.3× more output tokens per active user than typical firms, up from 2.6× in January, with Codex accounting for 64% of combined enterprise output tokens. Agentic use is spreading rapidly beyond engineering into legal, sales, recruiting and marketing. The reports highlight the role of plugins, skills, governance and shared workflows in closing the frontier gap.
